Mixson hits

Cherokee’s Gracie Mixson connects with a pitch earlier this season against Roswell. Cherokee sits in a tie with Etowah and Lassiter at the top of Region 4AAAAAAA with one region game remaining.

Cherokee 15, West Forsyth 0/ Three innings

Cherokee scored eight runs in the first inning on the way to defeating West Forsyth in three inning on Saturday in Canton. The win improved Cherokee’s record to 16-7, 11-3 in Region 4AAAAAAA.

Graice Mixson and Jordyn Stanfill each finished with a double and three RBIs, while Parker Modica allowed no hits and struck out one in her three innings in the circle.

Cherokee will play at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Mount Paran Christian.

Etowah 6, Loganville 4

Etowah scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead and held on for victory against Loganville on Saturday afternoon. The win improved Etowah’s record to 15-7, 11-3 in Region 4AAAAAAA.

Bri Condon finished 2-for-3 with one run scored and three RBIs while Alaina Smith finished 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Sydney Baker, Natalie Harper and Hailey Shultz combined to hold Loganville to seven hits and four runs.

Etowah will play at 12 noon on Tuesday at home against River Ridge.

Walnut Grove 9, Etowah 1/ six innings

Paige Patterson’s RBI single in the third inning was all Etowah could muster as the Lady Eagles fell to Walnut Grove on Saturday.

Abby Billings and Alaina Smith each finished with two hits, while Smith added a stolen base.

Sprayberry 5, River Ridge 2

Lily Bell finished 3-for-4 with one run scored as River Ridge fell to Sprayberry on Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped River Ridge’s season record to 14-8, 11-5 in Region 6AAAAAA.

Gracie Hughes and Elyse Navarro each finished with an RBI apiece while Hughes and Cat McCulley each recorded two base hits each. Bell stole two bases while Becca Bray stole one.

River Ridge will play at 12 noon on Tuesday at Etowah in its final regular season game before the Region 6AAAAAA tournament which begins on Thursday.
