With the game tied and overtime looming, Woodstock senior guard Rakim Thompson pulled up from the top of the key and drilled a 3-pointer as time expired lifting Woodstock to a win on Saturday. The win improved Woodstock’s record to 9-6, 0-2.
D.J. Potts-Heard led Woodstock with 22 points while Thompson finished with 20 points and Ezekiel Pettway added 16 points.
Woodstock will play next 7:30 p.m. on Friday at home against Lassiter.
CHEROKEE 76, POPE 71
Taihland Owens and Elijah Tucker combined for 53 points on 21-for-43 shooting as Cherokee defeated the host school Pope to advance to the Monday night’s championship game of the Hounds Holiday Hoop Classic. The win improved Cherokee’s record to 14-1.
Tucker added 10 rebounds while Owens added six rebounds and four steals. Bennett Ulm was the only other Warrior in double figures and finished with 10 points.
CHEROKEE 52, MOUNT PISGAH 49
Zach Vickers scored a team-high 19 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds as Cherokee won on the opening day of the Hounds Holiday Hoop Classic on Friday at Pope High School in Marietta. The win improved Cherokee’s record to 13-1.
Taihland Owens scored 18 points and added five rebounds while Elijah Tucker scored 10 points while adding eight rebounds.

Brock Rechsteiner finished with 21 points and Mason Etter finished with 18 points as Etowah fell on Friday during the first day of the Hounds Holiday Hoop Classic. The loss dropped Etowah’s record to 9-3.

Etowah scored 13 first half points and was unable to recover as the Eagles fell on Saturday at Pope High School during the second day of the Hounds Holiday Hoop Classic. Etowah was without freshman standout Mason Etter who was nursing an injured ankle. The loss dropped Etowah’s record to 9-4.

Julia Craft and Savanna Mason each scored 10 points as the Lady Grizzlies finished in fourth place on the third and final day of the Campbell Holiday Classic on Saturday in Smyrna. The loss dropped the Creekview’s record to 7-8.
