Reinhardt officially revealed its 2021 football schedule, which includes a highly anticipated season opener against Kennesaw State on Sept. 2.
The Eagles went 9-1 during the spring season, advancing to the NAIA quarterfinals.
“I’m excited about our football team and excited about the direction we’re heading,” Reinhardt coach James Miller said, “but we have to put in a lot of hard work in the coming months to make it a great year. I love our football team and staff, and we are ready to go attack the season.”
Reinhardt’s schedule features 11 games, with six within the Mid-South Conference’s Appalachian Division. Five of the home games will be at Ken White Field.
“Very difficult schedule this coming fall with 11 games on it,” Miller said. “First game of the year against a really good FCS opponent in Kennesaw State, and then we have a couple tough road trips to Ave Maria and Bethel University.”
Divisional games will begin Oct. 9 when the Eagles host Bluefield.
NAIA coaches rank Eagles No. 8
Reinhardt will head into the season with a No. 8 ranking according to the NAIA’s preseason coaches’ poll.
The Eagles received 310 total votes as they were put in the same position they were in when the spring season ended in April.
Defending NAIA champion Lindsey Wilson was voted No. 1, followed by runner-up Northwestern (Iowa), Morningside, Keiser, Grand View, Concordia and Baker. Marian and Olivet Nazarene followed Reinhardt to round out the top 10.
Reinhardt picked to win Mid-South Appalachian Division
The Eagles come into the 2021 season among the top dogs in the Mid-South and were voted as the favorites to win the Appalachian Division.
Reinhardt received 36 votes, including six first-place votes from coaches.
The Eagles are coming off a fifth straight MSC Appalachian Division title, which included an undefeated 6-0 divisional record last year.
