Sequoyah senior Myles McGee scored a team-high 20 points in the Chiefs’ road win over Gainesville on Friday night.

Gainesville 53

Myles McGee scored a team-high 20 points as Sequoyah went on the road to earn a road win at Gainesville on Friday night in the first round of the state playoffs.

Sequoyah blocked 14 shots and the effort was led by Dashaun Robinson who scored seven points and added 12 rebounds to go along with his eight blocks. Ayden Watson scored 13 points while adding six rebounds and three blocks. Donovan Shipp scored 10 points and added seven assists while Jacksen Greco finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

Sequoyah (23-5) will play at 6 p.m.on Thursday at Richmond Hill High School in the second round of the AAAAAA state tournament.

Wheeler 68,

Etowah 43

Etowah fell in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday night to No. 4-ranked Wheeler, ending the Eagles’ season. Etowah finished the season with a record of 17-9.

Pebblebrook 79, Woodstock 59

Woodstock fell on the road on Friday night in the first round of the state tournament, ending the Wolverines’ season. Woodstock finished it’s season with a record of 13-15.


Westlake 73,

Etowah 31

No. 1-ranked Westlake was too much on Friday night as the Lady Eagles fell in the first round of the state playoffs, ending Etowah’s season.

Ally Zazzara finished with 11 points to lead Etowah who finished the season 12-17.
