CARROLLTON — Etowah came away with a 12th-place finish in the Class AAAAAAA girls race on the final day of the state cross country championships Saturday.

The Lady Eagles, the lone Cherokee County team qualifier in either the girls or boys races, scored 277 points.

Hillgrove (77) won the team title, with South Forsyth (90), Walton (99) and West Forsyth (100) also placing on the podium.

Sydney Runyan led the way for Etowah with a 16th-place time of 20 minutes, 12.50 seconds. Makenna Calbert (20:33.89) was the only other Lady Eagle in the top 50 with a 28th-place showing.

Other Etowah runners competing were Haley Theriault (65th, 21:21.54), Natalie Calbert (88th, 21:51.49) and Meg Lance (91st, 22:05.96).

Cherokee teammates Dominick DeLillo (17:23.70) and Lexi Pavese (21:09.37) each finished 52nd in the boys and girls races, respectively.
