Creekview’s Andrew Cloy celebrates a touchdown last week against Chattahoochee. The Grizzlies’ planned game against Centennial was canceled due to the coronavirus.

The coronavirus turned the football schedules for Cherokee County upside-down again.

Two games set for Friday were canceled — Creekview at Centennial, and River Ridge at Johns Creek.

Creekview’s game was canceled mid-week because of coronavirus protocols at Centennial. River Ridge’s game was canceled because of issues within the Knights’ program.

The two cancellations will set up an interesting final week of the regular season in Region 7AAAAAA.

If it is able to play its regular-season finale, River Ridge would be able to win its first region title with a win at home against Cambridge. The Knights would finish the regular season undefeated at 9-0 and 6-0 in region play.

Johns Creek will travel to Creekview to close the season. If River Ridge beats Cambridge, then the game between the Johns Creek and Creekview would determine who earns the No. 2 seed and a home playoff game.

If Cambridge beats River Ridge, then the Knights would drop into a tie for the region lead with the winner of the Creekview-Johns Creek game. River Ridge, however, would hold the tiebreaker over Creekview thanks to its overtime win last month.
