Earning first-round home series in the state playoffs proved helpful for two county teams Tuesday night.

Creekview beat defeated Habersham Central 4-1 and 9-4 to sweep a doubleheader Tuesday in the Class AAAAAA state playoffs.

Emily Wilkie hit two home runs in the two-game sweep, and Anslie Pettit picked up both wins for the Lady Grizzlies (25-4). With the score tied at 4-all at the end of seven innings in Game 2, Sofia Jimenez’s two-run double helped break up the deadlock and lead Creekview to the extra-inning win.

Creekview will host either Brunswick or M.L. King next week.

River Ridge also completed a first-round sweep by knocking off Winder-Barrow 8-0 and 12-0 at home. Both games ended early by way of the run rule, with the Lady Knights outhitting the Lady Bulldoggs 18-1 overall.

Becca Bray and Elyse Navarro each finished with four RBIs on the evening, while Sydney Osada picked up both wins for River Ridge (19-11).

The Lady Knights will host Glynn Academy in a doubleheader next Tuesday, with the first game to begin at 4 p.m.
