Four Cherokee County flag football teams will begin their trek for a potential state championship next week.
The first round of the playoffs will be held Wednesday, with Sequoyah, Woodstock, Cherokee and River Ridge in the Class 6A-7A tournament.
The first round will consist of a four-team pod hosted by its No. 1 seed. As the top seed in Area 6, the Lady Chiefs will host South Forsyth, Mountain View and Central Gwinnett at Skip Pope Stadium. Sequoyah will play Central Gwinnet, while South Forsyth will face Mountain View. The winners of the two games will face each other in Round 2 at the higher seed on Dec. 15.
The state quarterfinals will be on Dec. 19 on campus sites. Semifinal games will be held Dec. 23 at the Home Depot Backyard at Mercedes Benz Stadium with the state championship game at Georgia State's Center Parc Stadium on Dec. 28.
Woodstock, the No. 2 seed, will travel to Mill Creek to face Dacula. The winner will face the winner of Mill Creek and Lambert.
Cherokee is the third seed and will compete in the first round against South Gwinnett at Forsyth Central. The winner will face the winner of Forsyth Central and Collins Hill.
River Ridge earned the No. 4 seed and will travel to Grayson to face the Lady Rams. The winner will face the winner of North Gwinnett and West Forsyth.
