DEAR EDITOR:

Reading and hearing the arguments about who to blame for the recent spike in inflation and the tax or no tax arguments between societal layers of income is not a new phenomenon.

Government is not a manufacturer. Government does not make an income. Governments tax the population and/or businesses to “make” money. Government then spends the money as the Government (not the people) see fit.

Recently our President has stated that he will raise taxes significantly on anyone or any business earning $400.000 or more to fund the government’s agenda. The President implied by those parameters that those below $400,000 would be exempt from those taxes.

I would like to give you a quote from the year 1919 by John Maynard Keynes, an English economist. Inflation, a means by which “governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens”. President Biden and his administration can blame whoever they want for the current inflation and tax issues. It is my, and John Maynard Keynes opinion, that the fault for the current unprecedented inflation and conflicts rests solely with the Biden administration and no one else.
