  • 0

Elree Bridges Worley, age 96, left us to be with The Lord on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020. Widow of Clyde E. Worley of Canton, Ga. Daughter of Tom and Hamm Bridges of Olgethorpe County, Elree had 7 brothers and 7 sisters. She and Clyde met while attending Reinhardt College in Waleska, Ga. In addition to raising 3 children and helping her husband in his businesses - including Worley Shoes of Canton, Elree enjoyed hearing and telling a good humorous story. She enjoyed writing and published books telling about her early life while growing up in Olgethorpe County with her large family. She was quoted as saying "My biggest inspiration is watching my granddaughter's eyes light up every time I said I would tell her another story. I hope I can inspire others to enjoy my writings in a similar way." One of her favorite stories in one of her books is "Going to Meetin" with her family in which she talked about the importance of church in their family, a theme which was the centerpiece of the Worley household. Elree and Clyde had a great love of travel visiting 6 of the 7 continents together. Survivors include Sisters: Laura Bridges and Dot Cecchini, Daughter Deborah Worley Fincher (Husband John Fincher) Daughter Penelope Worley, Son Daniel Worley, Grandson Christopher Worley, Granddaughter Dyanna Fincher Diggs (Husband Ethan Diggs) and Great Grandsons: Marshal Diggs and Ellis Diggs. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Cherokee Historical Society, Canton First United Methodist Church Building Fund, or Reinhardt College in her memory. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the Worley family.
