Penny Stumler

  • 0

Surrounded by her loved ones, Penny Stumler passed peacefully away on May 28, 2019 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. She had been battling an auto immune disease that affected her lungs and kidneys.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Penny touched many lives during her 76 years. She was born on Long Island, New York where she grew up in Levittown with her parents and three brothers. Penny was very active in her high school and attended Hofstra University where she studied to be an art teacher. After finishing college, she decided to see the world and became an international flight attendant for Capitol Air. During one of her many adventures, she met her future husband, John, in Frankfurt, Germany. Shortly later, Penny and John were married in New York to begin their almost 50 year marriage. They settled in Atlanta, Georgia near John's family and began a family of their own. Most of Penny's early adult years were spent raising her family in Woodstock, Georgia where she was a volunteer and substitute teacher at Woodstock Elementary. Later, the family moved to Canton, and she went back to work full time as an art teacher at Teasley Middle School when it opened. Penny also taught at Freedom Middle School before retiring in 2008. Over her twenty-two-year career, she impacted many students and inspired several to pursue their talents in the arts. She loved running into students all over town and seeing them grown up with their own families. Upon retirement, Penny became the care giver for her mom, Murial and later her brother, Briton. She loved to dote on her five grandchildren. Penny will be remembered for her kind, giving and positive spirit. She had lots of stories to tell and much love to give. Penny never met a stranger. If you had the privilege to meet her, you would have her friendship and undying loyalty to the end. She will be missed by her loved ones dearly but never forgotten. May she rest in peace with the Lord and her family members that preceded her.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, June 04, 2019, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Stone, and Rev. Donald Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery.
