Mrs. Magdalene "Maggie" Leonard, 77, of Waleska, GA passed peacefully on August 12, 2020. Maggie was born on July 10, 1943 in Unaka, NC. She graduated from high school in Murphy, NC. Maggie enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and working in her garden. She loved caring for the babies in the nursery at Little River United Methodist Church, and the children affectionately called her Nanny. Maggie was very caring and giving person who loved being a wife, mother, and a Nanny to her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and was a faithful Christian. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 47 years, William Z. Leonard of Waleska, GA; son, Dwight Leonard of Waleska, GA; daughter, Pam King and her husband Scott, of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Heidi King and Oscar King; and brothers, Willard Smith (Joyce) of Duluth, GA, Charles "Buck" Smith (Bon) of Williston, SC, Boyd Smith (Kathy) of Seattle, WA, and Floyd Smith (Shelly) of Hayesville, NC. Maggie was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Smith. There will be a graveside service on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11:00am for family and close friends at Little River United Methodist Church, Woodstock, GA. The family asks that you wear a mask if you plan on attending the service for the safety of others. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Little River UMC in memory of Maggie.
