Linda Forrester Gillespie died Saturday November 6th, 2021 in Naples, Florida. She is survived by husband Curt Gillespie, sister Ann Forrester Rogers and 28 nephews and nieces. Linda was born and raised in Hickory Flat, Georgia and graduated nearby Reinhardt University. She served as court reporter for the North Georgia Circuit Court during her early professional career. Linda met and married Curt Gillespie in 1978. During the next 43 years, Linda and Curt traveled from Maine to Florida searching out and recycling great old houses. Linda was an accomplished homemaker and hands-on worker, as adept with a hammer as with a serving spoon. She pursued her love of all things old and beautiful as a «picker» of art, antiques and collectibles. In later years her interest turned from painting houses to oil paints on canvas. She instructed others as she shared her enthusiasm for creative arts. Linda was always forthcoming with help for others. Her Christian faith forged her path loving God foremost and neighbor as self. Believing that families everywhere deserve a safe and decent place to live, she contributed her time, talent and treasure to building homes with Habitat for Humanity. Linda found her bit of heaven on earth in the mountaintop village of Blowing Rock, North Carolina. She will be buried there and a memorial service is planned for her birthday week in June 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Habitat for Humanity or Habitat for Humanity of Collier County of Florida. Online condolences may be sent to the Gillespie family at www.hamptonfuneralnc.com Hampton Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.
