Obituary for Benny Lanier Gilleland Bennie Lanier Gilleland, age 85 of Canton, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his residence. The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 13th from 4pm to 8pm. The funeral will be on Thursday, January 14th at 2pm at Canton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Kenny Ott officiating. He will be interred on Friday, January 22nd at 10:30a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery. He retired from Cherokee Roads Roads and Bridges. He spent many years coaching boys and girls in football and softball. He was also an active in Canton First United Methodist Church. Mr. Gilleland is survived by: Wife - Dot King Gilleland of Canton Son - Joey (Sarina) Gilleland of Canton Daughter - Mollie (Chris) Guy of Canton Brother - Bill (Ann) Gilleland of Canton Grandchildren - Jessica Williamson, Jonathan Guy, Laura Guy, Caleb Guy, Benjamin Gilleland, Cameron Gilleland 3 Great-Grandchildren also survive In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Canton First United Methodist Church Building Fund in his memory. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gilleland family.
