Mrs. Carolyn Grant Koontz De Arteaga passed away peacefully at her home in Canton, GA during the morning of Friday, June 26, 2020. A private service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery Monday July 13, 2020 at 9:30AM. Mrs. Carolyn De Arteaga, passed away peacefully at her home in Canton on Friday, June 26. Carolyn had a long, blessed and distinguished career as counselor in pubic schools, Christian churches, including Mt. Paran Church of God in North Atlanta, Grow Church in Woodstock, and her own counseling center in Marietta. She received a BS degree in sociology from Western Maryland College, and then two graduate degrees in counseling. The first from Loyola University in Baltimore in special education, and the second from Georgia State University for community counseling. She authored numerous articles on counseling, a Christian novel trilogy, and a non-fiction work Watching God Work: The Stuff of Miracles. The latter book describes her healing ministry with her husband, the Rev. William De Arteaga. Carolyn had many interests, including crocheting, square dancing and bird watching. She is survived by her husband, three children and four grandchildren. The memorial service will take pace at Grow Church, 2510 E. Cherokee Dr., Woodstock GA, 30188, on Saturday, July 11. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm and the memorial service at 5:00 pm. Memorial gifts may be made to "Smile Train (International Children's Charity)," PO Box 96231, Washington, DC 20090-6231
