A Woodstock man was arrested by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office on Monday after he allegedly arranged a sexual encounter with what he thought was a child under the age of 15, but that was actually an investigator.

According to sheriff's office spokesman, Capt. Jay Baker:

Investigators with the department's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested 35-year-old Marvin Civil of Woodstock after he drove to an undisclosed location in Cherokee County to meet what he thought was a juvenile for sex. Civil was arrested and charged with a violation of the computer/electronic pornography and child exploitation act, criminal attempt to commit child molestation and human trafficking. The person Civil had been communicating with online was in fact an ICAC investigator.

Civil remained in custody without bond on Tuesday afternoon.
