A Woodstock man was arrested Monday for allegedly shooting someone in the face following an altercation at a home in Woodstock Saturday, according to police.
Michael Monterio, 25, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and discharging a firearm near a road.
Cherokee Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a call of a person shot at a residence about 9:45 p.m. Saturday on River Laurel Way in Woodstock, according to spokeswoman Sgt. Marianne Kelley.
“When deputies arrived they located the victim who had a gunshot wound to the face,” she said. “The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and is in stable condition.”
Deputies canvassed the area to speak with any witnesses to the incident, Kelley said. Investigators determined there was an altercation in the front yard of the residence where the victim was then shot.
“CSO Criminal Investigations Division continued the investigation and identified the suspect as Michael Monterio, 25, years of age of Woodstock,” she said.
Monterio was arrested Monday. He is being held in the Cherokee County jail without bond, Kelley said.
