A Woodstock High School Class of 2019 graduate has been appointed to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Anna Fournaris, who served as the school’s Navy Junior ROTC commanding cadet officer, is headed to the service academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, later this month to begin her studies. She plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and go on to serve after graduation as an air battle manager for the Air Force.

As cadet commanding officer for Woodstock High’s JROTC, Anna was responsible for 112 cadets and has been a valuable asset to the program and the school, including as a member of the program’s nationally ranked Brain Brawl team.

She was also a member of the National Honor Society, school swim team, Civil Air Patrol and USAPL competitive powerlifting team and was selected from a pool of students statewide for the State Superintendent of Schools’ Student Advisory Council.

In 2018, Anna was recognized with the Wells-Pratt Award from the Navy League of the United States Atlanta Metropolitan Council. The top award included a trophy and $1,500 scholarship.
