A woman was killed and two other people injured in a two-car crash on Eagle Drive early Monday afternoon, authorities said.

According to Capt. Jay Baker of the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office:

Deputies responded to an accident at noon on Eagle Drive at Rose Creek Drive on Monday. Witnesses reported a Ford Explorer traveling west on Eagle Drive ran the red light at the intersection and struck a Chevrolet Malibu turning left from Rose Creek Drive onto Eagle Drive.

“The adult female driver of the Malibu died at the scene of the accident. The adult female driver of the Explorer and a juvenile passenger were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries,” Baker said.

On Wednesday, officials identified the woman who was killed as Mary McCoy, 61, of Woodstock.

The incident is being investigated by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit.
