(UPDATE at 7:25 p.m.) In its Monday evening update, the Georgia Department of Public Health reported 69 confirmed coronavirus infections in Cherokee County, up eight from the midday report.

Statewide the total number of cases was 3,028, 219 more than the midday report Monday. There were 771 hospitalizations Monday evening, up from 707 at midday, an increase of 64. There have been 100 deaths attributed to COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, 13 more than the 87 seen in the midday report.

Cherokee County recorded one new case of novel coronavirus infection since Sunday evening, according to the Monday midday report from the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Statewide there were 2,809 cases and there have been 87 deaths from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. Statewide there were 707 people hospitalized with the disease, DPH reported. So far one death caused by the disease has occurred in Cherokee County.
