Chattahoochee Technical College instructors Stephanie Puffer and Bhavya Mathur have been selected as 2019-2020 Governor’s Teaching Fellows.

They were two of 18 faculty members selected from institutions of higher education across the state after a highly competitive application and selection process, according to the Governor’s Teaching Fellows Program.

Puffer serves as program director for the Chattahoochee Tech Physical Therapist Assistant program, which is located at the college’s North Metro Campus. She received the Chattahoochee Tech Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year award in January 2019.

Mathur serves as a biology instructor at the college’s North Metro Campus.

“We are very proud that two of our instructors have been selected for the prestigious Governor’s Teaching Fellows Program,” said Chattahoochee Tech College President Ron Newcomb. “We greatly value this program’s important mission of moving college faculty members to the leading edge of instructional practice.”

The Governor’s Teaching Fellows Program is an outreach program of the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia. It was established in 1995 by Gov. Zell Miller to provide Georgia’s higher education faculty with expanded opportunities to develop important teaching skills, and to address the pressing need for faculty members to use emerging technologies and instructional tools that are becoming increasingly important for learning in today’s society.
