A friendship among women over a span of many decades will take center stage at the Canton Theatre in September.
“Sweet Delilah Swim Club” features five southern women, whose friendships began on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh, and meddle in each other’s lives. The play focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years at ages 44, 45, 54 and 77.
Canton Theatre officials will take pictures of groups of friends in attendance to post on Facebook. Those in attendance will also be recognized before the show starts and will be entered in a drawing for a season ticket.
Performances will be at The Canton Theatre, 171 E. Main St. in Canton. Prices for adults are $18, and $15 for seniors 60 and up.
The play will start at 8 p.m. on Sept. 17, 18, 24, 25, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 and 26. Dining area will be available. There will also be free parking.
