A new smoothie and juice bar is opening in the Macedonia community near Canton, focusing on healthy and nutritional options.

Freedom Nutrition is expected to open its doors to the public in late October. Amy Donley, the bar’s owner, said Freedom Nutrition will offer a variety of teas, smoothies, shakes, and coffee, promoting the idea of healthy living.

“I call the business a “healthy café,” because, while we don’t serve food, we serve a number of drinks such as energy teas, protein shakes, protein iced coffees, and bubble tea,” she said. “All the products we use are natural and plant-based, and everything is low on sugar and calories.”

Donley said there will be a regular menu, and that the bar will incorporate seasonal and holiday menus like a Halloween and Christmas menu. She said there will also be weekly milkshakes and tea specials.

Freedom Nutrition is a sister location to two Nutrition 140 stores, at the front entrance of Harmony on the Lakes neighborhood in Holly Springs, and Ball Ground Nutrition near Feathers Edge Vineyards, Donley said. Donley’s cousin, Kristen Burns, owns Nutrition 140, which offers similar smoothies and juices.

“It was a dream of mine and my cousin’s to bring a healthy option shop to the community we live in because there’s so many unhealthy options,” Donley said. “I helped her open the shop in February because we wanted to create a place where people could stop by and enjoy healthy options like a protein shake or energy tea. Freedom Nutrition will be very similar.”

Donley said when she helped her cousin open Nutrition 140, she created a six-month plan for herself to open her own shop. She said the plan has gone well so far, as she recently signed the lease to open Freedom Nutrition near the Kroger in Macedonia.

Donley said she looks forward to providing a place for people to relax and enjoy a drink.

“Nutrition 140 offers a place for kids and students to come and hang out, which is why there’s a huge high school presence there,” Donley said. “This is the type of place I’m looking to replicate at Freedom Nutrition, with it being only a couple of minutes away from Creekview High School and Creekland Middle School. I want it to be welcoming to everyone.”

The Sequoyah graduate said she loves being a part of the community and is looking forward to working with local residents to partake in fundraisers.

Freedom Nutrition will be located at 8020 Cumming Highway, suite 405 near Canton. For more information, visit bit.ly/3z2FT8U.
