The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is investigating a smash-and-grab theft at an Acworth convenience store in which cash and lottery tickets were taken.

According to an Sheriff’s Office incident report:

At about 2:30 a.m. Thursday an alarm went off at a Shell convenience store and gas station at 6045 Ga. Highway 92, Acworth. The alarm system indicated that glass was broken on the building and that motion was detected inside the manager’s office of the business, which was closed at the time.

A deputy arrived to find glass shattered in a front door. Officers entered the store and determined there was no one inside.

A representative of the business was contacted and went inside with deputies to determine what, if anything, had been taken. A large rock was found inside on a floor mat near the cashier station. And, the employee told deputies that rolled coins and lottery tickets had been taken.

The incident remains under investigation.
