The Rotary Club of Canton has presented Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy with a $5,000 donation.

The club gave the gift last week funded through the Rotary District Grant match program to Hasty as part of their ongoing partnership, which supports the Canton school through donations of time, talent and treasure.

The grant will be used by the school to supply its newly established Makerspace Lab, which provides students greater opportunities to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) learning through hands-on activities.

“We have an outstanding partner in Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy in our mission to serve our community,” Club President Stacey Williams said. “Principal Rodney Larrotta welcomes us with open arms and gives us opportunities to really make a difference in his student’s lives.”

Following the donation, club members stayed to read to students as part of the national Read for the Record literacy celebration.
