Cherokee County residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the state's redistricting process at a town hall at 6-7:30 p.m. today at the county's historic courthouse, 90 North St.

State House Representative Mandi Ballinger is hosting the town hall, and is expected to discuss the state’s upcoming redistricting process as new districts are drawn for representation of federal, state and local seats.

Ballinger is a member of the House Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committee.

A release from Ballinger said other members of the county’s legislative delegation will also be in attendance. Cherokee County Commission Chair Harry Johnston confirmed to the Tribune he will also be in attendance.

This town hall is intended for the legislative delegation to hear directly from Cherokee County residents only, and public comment will be limited to Cherokee residents.

Johnson told the Tribune another town hall in Canton is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 6.
