Scarecrow invasion

October in downtown Woodstock will again see the streets lined with scarecrows, and soon local businesses and residents will have the opportunity to join in the tradition.

Beginning Tuesday at 10 a.m. scarecrow registration will be open for Woodstock's annual Scarecrow Invasion.

To enter, stop by the Woodstock Visitors Center, located at 8588 Main St. in downtown Woodstock. You can pay your registration fee, pick your spot for the event and receive the rules for the event. There is limited space available for this event, so it is recommended to be in line at 10 a.m. on Sept. 3 to register. Registration fees will be the same as last year. The fee is $40 for a nonprofit and for a business $100 for a prime spot and $60 for a non prime spot.

The scarecrows will be on display the entire month of October in Downtown Woodstock and this year the event will feature 180 plus scarecrows. The proceeds from the Scarecrow Invasion will be donated to IN Season. This organization is the design committee for IN WDSTK, known for their beautiful landscaping and holiday decor along Main Street.
