Authorities have arrested the person they say shot and killed a man who was at a southwest Cherokee County home to visit his child, according to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies found Eduardo Figueroa, 31, of Acworth, dead outside a home on Mohawk Trail near Acworth Aug. 7 while responding to a report of a person shot.
Nicholas Mimms, 32, of Powder Springs, told authorities he had shot Figueroa, according to the sheriff’s office. Mimms is in a relationship with the mother of Figueroa’s child.
The house belongs to Mimms’ parents. Neither the mother nor child were there at the time of the shooting.
Mimms is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He is in the Cherokee County jail without bond.
