A 65-year-old man was struck by two vehicles on Ga. Highway 92 near Acworth before dawn on Thursday morning and died at a hospital later, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office reports.

According to sheriff’s office spokesman, Capt. Jay Baker:

The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on Ga. Highway 92 near Woodland Drive in the Acworth area. The 65-year-old male victim, Sebastian Martinez of Acworth, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

“The victim was wearing dark clothing and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by two vehicles traveling east on Highway 92. The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators from the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit,” Baker said.

The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time, he said.

The incident is the third pedestrian fatality on Ga. Highway 92 in Cherokee County this year.
