A River Ridge High School computer science teacher was tapped to lead a Master Teacher Workshop at Facebook’s headquarters.
Jennifer Norton, who also heads up the school’s Career, Technical and Agricultural Education department, was selected by the National Science Foundation and Facebook to lead the professional development session at the social media giant’s headquarters in California last month. The cost of her trip was funded by the two groups.
A 10-year educator, Norton began her career at River Ridge after earning her mathematics degree from Kennesaw State University. She is a Master Teacher for Georgia Tech’s EarSketch Program funded by the National Science Foundation, and also led its professional development in summer 2018.
She authored the AP Computer Science Principles section of Albert.io, is a published textbook reviewer for “Video Game Design and Programming Concepts” by Goodheart-Willcox Publishing and serves as a testing score confirmer for the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators’ computer science exam.
Norton will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools at the September School Board meeting.
