Police are investigating human remains that were found behind a shopping center Sunday in Holly Springs.

According to Holly Springs Police Department, officers were dispatched to to the wooded area behind Kroger in the Toonigh Village Shopping Center, at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday in reference to suspected human remains. Officials confirmed that it was human remains.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to help investigate.

“This is an open and ongoing investigation no further information is available at this time,” the police department said in a news release.
