Holly Springs Police Department is accepting applications for the upcoming free Citizen’s Police Academy which begins March 23. This program is open to all residents of Cherokee County.

The Citizen’s Police Academy has become an important and popular tool in uniting and strengthening the police department’s commitment to a safe city, department leaders said in a written statement. The academy is a series of eight sessions which focus on varying aspects of law enforcement/citizen cooperation and creates an opportunity to peek inside the world of a police officer. The sessions include: modern American law enforcement, Uniform Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, crime scene investigations, criminal identification, decision making, “What would you do?” exercises, securing your home and your person, and presentations by special units. Participants may also opt to accompany a police officer during a routine shift.

Applications must return the application by March 12. For more information contact dbettis@hollyspringsga.us, 770-721-7526 or visit the city’s website at www.hollyspringsga.us., and select “Department”, “Police”, “Citizens Academy.”
