Utility crews are repairing a gas line on Highway 140 near Arnold Mill Road, after a gas main break that started Friday afternoon and shut down a portion of the highway that remains closed.
Highway 140 is closed between Arnold Mill Road and Grimes Road, according to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office. Motorists are advised to use Arnold Mill Road to Grimes Road or Mountain Road as alternate routes.
Repairs to the gas line are estimated to be finished at about 10 p.m. Saturday, according to the sheriff's office. Then crews will begin repairing the road.
A lane has been opened for residents off Riverlake Drive to get in and out of their neighborhood, Capt. Jay Baker told the Tribune.
