The Cherokee County Board of Health building in Canton is undergoing an expansion project to increase the level of service it offers to its patients.

The Canton location of the Cherokee County Health Department will be closed on April 22 and 23 as it prepares to offer more services.

Located on Univeter Road, the facility will be temporarily closed as staff moves into the newly constructed additional space at the site. Public health services will resume at the Univeter Road location on April 26.

“The new area will provide more space for our women, infants, and children services,” Jennifer King, spokeswoman for the North Georgia Health District, said. “This expansion will also eventually allow for a full-time dental program at this location, opposed to the one day a week services for children as it is now.”

The temporary closure of this location will not affect COVID-19 vaccine appointments scheduled at Canton First Baptist Church.

To register for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment through the Georgia Department of Public Health, log onto gta-vras.powerappsportals.us or call 888-457-0186.
