CCSD’s high school agriculture Career Pathway classes and extracurricular programs offer students hands-on learning opportunities including cultivating plants. Once those plants are ready to leave the greenhouse, students sell them as a fundraiser, giving the community another way to support career education.
Etowah High School’s plant sale is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the school at 6565 Putnam Ford Dr. near Woodstock. The sale includes petunias, begonias, ivy and sweet potato vines. Cherokee High School’s plant sale is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 18 and 19 and 9 a.m. to noon April 20 at the school at 930 Marietta Highway in Canton. The sale at Cherokee offers dahlias, gerberas, marigolds, tomatoes and herbs including thyme, cilantro and basil.
Prices start at only $1 a pot; full lists of plants and prices are posted at www.cherokeek12.net.
