Medical Associates of North Georgia has added gerontologist Nokuthula Msimanga to its practice at 470 Northside Cherokee Blvd. in Canton.

Dr. Msimanga is the first gerontologist to join the Northside Hospital System, which Medical Associates of North Georgia is affiliated with.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Msimanga to our team as she provides an important layer of support to our growing community,” said Katie Pearson, director of operations at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

Msimanga is a board-certified and fellowship trained physician in family medicine and geriatrics. Her clinical interests include preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, women’s health and geriatrics.

“Just as pediatricians understand that children aren’t just small adults, geriatricians recognize that older adults have different physiology, and that the prevalence of certain syndromes increases with aging,” Pearson said.

Gerontologists specialize in care of older people.

“I enjoy taking care of my patients,” Msimanga said. “Helping them to understand the disease process and management, navigating health systems to improve patient care, and helping them achieve positive health goals lets me know that I am getting my job done.”

Msimanga has been practicing medicine for more than a decade.

Msimanga is now accepting new patients, and welcomes same day appointments for sick visits.
