Five Cherokee County firefighters were promoted during ceremonies held Tuesday night at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex on Holly Springs Parkway.

After a brief welcome from Cherokee County Fire Chief Tim Prather, the five firefighters were asked to come forward and receive their promotion warrant. Promoted to the rank of sergeant was Fire Apparatus Operator David Jones III, while Sgt. Michael Sims and Sgt. Jon Villalobos were given a promotion to lieutenant. Lt. Matthew Richter was promoted to the rank of captain and Capt. Clay Cloud was appointed to the rank of battalion chief.

Following the promotion ceremony, refreshments were served in honor of those who received a promotion, with numerous firefighters, chiefs and family members also in attendance.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services wanted to offer a special congratulations to these five firefighters for their promotions.
