Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy has selected Karen Garland, the school’s science lab teacher, as its Teacher of the Year.

Garland’s husband, Eric, and son, Daniel, surprised her as she was presented the honor by Principal Joey Moss.

“I am the teacher I am today because of learning from all of my colleagues,” Garland said. “I am so blessed to work with all the students in the building as a specials teacher. It is an honor and a surprise to receive this award today!”

She and other school-level winners will vie this fall for the honor of Cherokee County School District’s 2020 Teacher of the Year! The districtwide competition is judged by a panel of community leaders, and the CCSD winner advances to the Georgia Teacher of the Year competition.
