Santa Claus will pay a special visit to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter Saturday, bringing with him a special gift for all of the animals there.

Santa will arrive at 10 a.m., and will be offering up the gift of free adoptions for all animals at the shelter, in an effort to help them find their forever homes just in time for the holidays. Santa will also be available for photos with visitors and their pets, both those being adopted on Saturday and those that have been adopted in the past.

As with other special adoption events, the standard list of services will be provided for animals being adopted on Saturday, including vaccinations, spaying or neutering, microchipping, deworming, a flea and tick treatment, testing for heartworms and FELV/FIV (feline leukemia virus/feline immunodeficiency virus) and a free sample bag of pet food.

In preparation for Saturday’s event and in celebration of St. Nicholas Day on Dec. 6, the shelter will be posting photos of all the animals that will be available for adoption on Facebook and the shelter website Friday evening.
