Rising Hills Church is seeking to build a home for its worship services along Highway 140.
The church currently meets at Indian Knoll Elementary School on Univeter Road, and is asking the Holly Springs City Council to annex and rezone a little over 11 acres at 3693 Hickory Flat Highway from county residential estate zoning to neighborhood commercial.
If approved by the council at its June 21 meeting, the church plans to construct a 12,000 square foot building including a new sanctuary for their ministry. The proposed facade would include brick, stone, and metal.
The Hickory Flat Highway location is near Harmony on the Lakes and Avery Landing neighborhoods, Community Development Director Nancy Moon said to council members Monday.
Services are planned to take place on Sundays. Moon added that the site plan submitted with the annexation and rezoning application included future structures that would be constructed as needed, with no specific use identified on the plan.
The city council will vote on this request at its June 21 meeting at 7 p.m. at 3237 Holly Springs Parkway. The meeting can also be viewed online at hollyspringsga.iqm2.com/citizens/default.aspx.
