A man from the Ball Ground area was indicted on two charges of child molestation in Cherokee County for alleged acts over a two-year period.
Joseph Dyson, 33, is accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl in 2018 and 2019 at the home of one of her relatives in east Cherokee County, according to an indictment filed Aug. 9. In his arrest warrant, police say Dyson threatened to hurt the girl’s family if she told anyone.
Dyson was arrested in March and bonded out earlier this month, according to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office. Court documents show bond conditions include no contact with the victim, and Dyson is not allowed at the home. He has a plea hearing scheduled for Sept. 16.
An indictment is a formal charge of felony offenses, and defendants are assumed innocent until proven guilty.
