Eleven firefighters with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were officially promoted Thursday night during a ceremony at the county’s fire training complex.

After giving opening remarks, Fire Chief Tim Prather called each firefighter forward to receive their promotion warrant.

During the ceremony, Jeremy Simmons, Alisha Payne and Geordan Ganka were promoted to the rank of sergeant, while sergeants Cheri Collett, David Burnaugh, Paul Faulkner, Benjamin Pearson and Waylon White were promoted to lieutenant. Lieutenants Danny Carter and Brandon Carr received a promotion to captain, and Jamie McCord was promoted to the rank of battalion chief.

A reception was held after the ceremony.
