2019 Canton Rotary prayer breakfast

Ike Reighard, leader of MUST Ministries, speaks at the 2019 Canton Rotary Prayer Breakfast. Reighard will again serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s event, which takes place Tuesday.

The Rotary Club of Canton is set to host its third annual Prayer Breakfast at 7 a.m. Tuesday at the Northside Cherokee Conference Center at the Bluffs, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton.

This year’s iteration is the third year of the breakfast, which was founded four years ago by then Canton Rotary President Matthew Thomas.

“He wanted to do something for the community that was a non-denominational prayer breakfast that was uplifting to the community and a way to show some hope,” Jennifer Stanley of Northside Hospital said. “For us, it gives us the opportunity to gather in a non-denominational atmosphere…and it’s a great way to provide business leaders a message of hope and inspiration for their day-to-day operations.”

Last year’s prayer breakfast was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will kick off at 7 a.m. with breakfast and networking. At 7:30 a.m., Canton Rotary President Greg Elder will outline Rotarians’ missions and goals. MUST Ministries CEO Dwight “Ike” Reighard is the keynote speaker for the event and will “deliver a message that focuses on the spirit of giving,” Stanley said.

Tickets for the prayer breakfast are $25 for general admission and $20 for clergy. They can be purchased at bit.ly/3n2h2PE. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Funds from the event will assist Canton Rotary’s initiatives and community projects, Stanley said.

“‘Service above self’ is one of the mottos of Rotary, and it’s certainly a wonderful group of individuals and community leaders that are part of this group to raise funds to put back into our community,” Stanley said.
