A restaurant serving a combination of Asian cuisines is soon coming to Canton.
Gekko Kitchen is expected to open at The Mill on Etowah in Canton by Jan. 1, owner Jack Bai said. The restaurant would sit adjacent to Community Burger, on the lower level of suite 400, according to city documents.
Gekko Kitchen will be located on the lower level of suite 400, which is located next to Community Burger.
The restaurant will offer hibachi steak, shrimp and chicken, and various bowls such as shrimp tempura, chicken gyoza, sushi combination and poke. Sides will include fried spring rolls and seaweed salad.
“We will offer all kinds of bowls — our number one sales item is the teriyaki chicken, and our number two item is the spicy tuna bowl,” Bai said. “People really enjoy our bowls.”
The concept of Gekko Kitchen started in the fall of 2017 under the direction of Bai, who operated the business as a food truck.
“We normally parked our truck at Colony Square and Peachtree Street, but in the past few years we’ve set up the truck at Kennesaw, Canton, Sandy Springs and other cities in Georgia, as well as Panama City and cities in North and South Carolina,” Bai said.
Eventually, he opened a physical location in Politan Row at Colony Square in Atlanta. The Mill on Etowah will be Bai’s second physical location.
“We already had a lot of customers throughout Atlanta because of our food truck, so our first permanent location became successful with many customers becoming regulars — 40% are recurring customers and I am really happy with that,” Bai said. “My broker reached out to me and told me that The Mill on Etowah is a great and nice place to potentially open another location. I really like the area and thought the mill would be a great fit.”
Bai said he still uses his food truck for catering and private and special events. The Mill on Etowah location will have catering, as well as a to-go option, Bai said.
The Mill on Etowah is located at 225 Reformation Parkway in Canton.
