A Woodstock Police Department officer has been relieved of duty as the department investigates allegations of illegal drug use, WPD reported Thursday.

Police are investigating an anonymous tip alleging illegal drug use by one member of the department. Officer Michael Smart is no longer employed by Woodstock Police, and three officers are on administrative leave.

The department said it could not provide more details due to the ongoing investigation.

“The Woodstock Police Department is committed to thoroughness and transparency in investigating allegations of employee misconduct and want to assure the public that appropriate action will be taken when warranted,” a press release from the department reads.

Does this mean that Woodstock is still one of the safest cities according to the FBI statistics, or that these stats are subject to bias and manipulation by those reporting it?
