A 59-year-old man was killed Tuesday when he and the work truck he was kneeling beside was struck by a motorist, officials said.

According to Cherokee Sheriff’s Office spokesman, Capt. Jay Baker:

Deputies were dispatched to a “pedestrian struck by vehicle” call Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Eagle Watch Drive at its intersection with Colonial Drive in Woodstock. A 59-year-old man, who was working as a landscaper, was kneeling next to a work truck that was legally parked on Eagle Watch Drive when a Ford Mustang, driven by Patrick Thomas, 65, of Woodstock, collided with the man and his work vehicle. The man died at the scene.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the accident. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday morning time. “The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of his family,” Baker said.
