Cherokee Sheriff’s Office investigators are asking the public’s help to find the driver of a tractor trailer involved in an injury crash on Interstate 75 south early Thursday afternoon.

According to sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Jay Baker:

The crash occurred about 1:15 p.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes of I-75 near Woodstock Road and the county line.

“Witnesses reported a black Honda Civic was merging lanes when it clipped the rear of a white tractor trailer causing the Honda to lose control a strike a tree. The female driver of the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Her name is not being released at this time,” Baker said.

The tractor trailer driver did not stop and may not be aware the vehicle was struck, Baker said. But, investigators are asking witnesses who may have information to help identify the driver of the truck to come forward to aid in the investigation of the crash.

Investigators are asking anyone who can identify or describe the tractor trailer to call the non-emergency 911 line at 678-493-4080 or the Traffic Enforcement office at 770-720-7079.

"Witnesses reported a black Honda Civic was merging lanes when it clipped the rear of a white tractor trailer causing the Honda to lose control a strike a tree. The female driver of the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injuries." The Honda driver obviously cannot drive safely and is irresponsible in not wearing a seatbelt. Why look for the truck driver; it's her fault. The truck driver is not remotely aware she struck him. Next!
