Hickory Flat Highway gas main break

A portion of Highway 140 between Arnold Mill Road and Grimes Road was shut down Friday afternoon due to a gas main break. It remained closed Saturday as crews worked to repair the gas line.

Highway 140 was open again Sunday morning after a gas main break shut down the highway Friday afternoon.

According to Cherokee Sheriff's Office, the gas line leaked on Highway 140 between Arnold Mill Road and Grimes Road Friday afternoon. Utility crews worked to repair the gas line Saturday into early Sunday morning, and then workers fixed the road. 

By about 3 a.m. Sunday, the road was finished and reopened, the sheriff's office reported.
