The annual Arbor Day fundraiser for the Canton Tree Commission will be this Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Canton at the gazebo.

The annual Arbor Day fundraiser for the Canton Tree Commission will be this Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Canton at the gazebo.

The Tree Commission will be giving away a variety of trees including persimmons, northern red oak, cherrybark oak, bald cypress, dogwood, catalpa, willow oak, red maple, redbud, crape myrtle, pollinator package and elite straight loblolly.

In addition to those tree, Buck Jones Nursery is providing trees and shrubs which will be available for purchase, with the proceeds benefiting the Canton Tree Commission.

The Canton Tree Commission and tree commissions across the state work to maintain the natural beauty of Georgia, encourage good landscaping practices, empower citizens to respect nature, outline problems regarding community maintenance and create events encouraging citizens to get involved with the beautification of their city.
