The City of Ball Ground is looking for volunteers to help with the city’s annual Christmas parade.

This year’s parade will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 3, and the city is in need of volunteers to assist in putting the event on, according to City Manager Eric Wilmarth.

“What does a parade volunteer do, you might ask?” Wilmarth said in a news release. “Help keep spectators on the sidewalks and away from parade vehicles, helping to direct parade participants at intersections where the parade joins together and breaks apart, help organize parade participants in the line-up, direct cosplayers to their respective locations and assist with vendor set-up and break down and the placement of toy collection boxes.”

Wilmarth said the city currently has five to six volunteers signed up to assist with the parade, but the city is really in need of around 20 to help out. Wilmarth also said traffic control will be handled by the Ball Ground Police Department, but the agency is looking to hire an additional 10 off-duty officers from other nearby jurisdictions to help out for the evening.

“The next meeting of the parade committee will be at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7 at City Hall,” Wilmarth said. “If you can help, we would be grateful.”
